Securing Product Safety Through a New PVoC Contract in Tanzania

PCA NewslettersJune 12, 2025

Highlighting our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety for products entering the Tanzanian market, we are pleased to announce that we have secured a new three-year contract to provide the country’s pre-shipment verification of conformity (PVoC) program.

Under this new contract, effective from March 1, 2025, we will continue to provide comprehensive conformity assessment services, including laboratory testing, through our global network. We support the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) in reducing the importation of substandard products in the short term and eliminating them in the long term. In this way, we help safeguard public health, safety and the environment, while also promoting fair competition for local manufacturers.

Penalties

If your business sells to Tanzania, be aware that on May 7, 2025, the TBS announced that regulated products arriving in the country under its PVoC program without the corresponding certificate of conformity (CoC) will be subject to a penalty. All clients are required to comply with the PVoC requirements for regulated products, and failure to do so will result in a 15% cost, insurance and freight (CIF) penalty.

Success in a competitive landscape

Our extensive experience, global reach and unwavering commitment to quality differentiate us from other PVoC service providers. We are dedicated to maintaining our leadership position by continuously improving our services and ensuring the highest levels of client satisfaction.

Securing this new PVoC contract is a testament to our dedication to quality and client satisfaction. We are excited to continue our partnership with TBS and contribute to the safety and well-being of Tanzanian consumers. Our commitment to excellence remains consistent, and we look forward to delivering exceptional services that drive success for our clients and stakeholders.
