Importers and other stakeholders are reminded of Cameroon’s mandatory pre-shipment product conformity requirements for goods entering the country.
In response to the tightening of regulations governing the shipment of all goods, particularly those related to product conformity verification, the country’s Agency for Standards and Quality (ANOR) has issued a press release reaffirming the inspection requirements outlined in Prime Ministerial Decree No. 2019/143 of 19 March 2019.
All goods imported into the Republic of Cameroon, with the exception of those listed in Article 8 of Decree Number 2015/1875/PM of July 1, 2015, which established the pre-shipment conformity assessment program (PECAE), must undergo assessment prior to shipment by the assessment body mandated by the State of Cameroon, namely SGS.
Subsequently, when a customs declaration is submitted, the product’s certificate of conformity (CoC) must be presented as one of the documents required for validation.
During local inspections conducted at retail locations, any products found on the market without a valid CoC will be subject to immediate seizure, and offenders will face penalties in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory provisions.
We work in collaboration with ANOR to implement Cameroon’s PECAE program, offering expert support for PCA compliance to manufacturers, sellers and exporters.
