We are pleased to announce that our laboratory in Fairfield, New Jersey, has received approval from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to expand its scope of accreditation. Effective immediately, the laboratory is accepted to perform testing for compliance with the following safety standards:
- 16 CFR 1242 - Safety Standard for Nursing Pillows
- 16 CFR 1243 - Safety Standard for Infant Support Cushions
Published by the CPSC on October 25, 2024, the final rule for nursing pillows (16 CFR 1242) is designed to reduce the risk of death and injury associated with nursing pillows. This safety standard, which took effect on April 23, 2025, requires manufacturers to ensure their products meet rigorous safety requirements.
Similarly, the final rule for infant support cushions (16 CFR 1243), issued by the CPSC on November 4, 2024, is designed to reduce the risks of suffocation, entrapment, fall hazards and other potential dangers that can lead to death or injury. The rule became effective on May 5, 2025.
Third-party testing by CPSC-accepted laboratories is now mandatory to verify compliance with these new safety standards, enhancing protection for consumers and helping manufacturers meet regulatory requirements.
