Certified Energy Manager CEM Training

The course utilizes accelerated learning techniques to provide you with an in-depth understanding of how to manage the basic fundamentals within all key areas of energy management. We also make sure you have the knowledge and confidence to effectively apply the principles of energy management in an organization to ensure maximum benefit from the latest energy cost reduction techniques and strategies.

During the training participants will cover these topics: Need for Energy Management; Implementing & Conducting & Reporting an Energy Audit; Energy Codes and Standards; Energy Purchasing; Energy Accounting and Benchmarking; Energy Rate Structures; Economic Analysis and Life Cycle Costing; Sample CEM® Examination Questions; Electrical Systems; Lighting System Basics and Lighting System improvement; Motors and Applications; Drives and Compressed Air Systems; Green Buildings and LEED; HVAC Basics Improvements; Building Envelope; and Thermal Energy Storage; Boilers and Thermal Systems; Boiler Efficiency Improvement; Industrial Systems; Cogeneration and CHP Systems; Maintenance Programs and Building Commissioning; Building Automation and Control System; and Alternative Financing and M&V.

This training is suitable for anyone involved with managing an energy facility or developing an energy management program for organizations. You will need basic algebra, basic problem-solving skills and the ability to set up problem solution expressions and calculations from a written problem statement.

The prerequisites each CEM® candidate must meet to qualify for the certification process are one of the following:

  • A four-year engineering degree and/or P.E. with at least three years' experience in energy engineering or energy management
  • A four-year business or related degree with at least five years' experience in energy engineering or energy management
  • A two-year technical degree with at least eight years' experience in energy engineering or energy management
  • Ten years or more verified experience in energy engineering or energy management (Note: Letters of reference and verification of employment must be submitted)

On successful completion of this five-day training, and meeting all CEM® requirements, including passing the CEM® written exam, you will be eligible for the Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) accreditation from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
