SGS and WRAP are going to co-host a webinar on June 16, explaining the emerging trends of social responsibility, and giving you an insight into introduction of WRAP certification, 12 principles and special audit requirements. Hope to see you online!
In recent years, increasingly more brands and retailers put forwards new requirements on social responsibility performance for suppliers in sourcing. It is becoming crucial for enterprises to demonstrate to buyers their compliance with social responsibility, labour and environment standards, as well as business ethics via social responsibility reports or certificates. Apart from brands and retailers, the market and regulators/governments are also paying more attention to social responsibility these years. In this session, we will explore emerging trends of social responsibility from different aspects, including investors, regulators/governments.
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is an independent, objective, non‐profit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education. They are the world’s largest independent factory-based certification program, focused on the apparel, footwear, and sewn products sectors and also extending to Tier 2 and 3 material suppliers. Their auditing process can also be applied to other high labor industry sectors including travel goods, home goods, accessories, medical supplies, wearable technology and upholstery.
WRAP’s Certification Program seeks to independently monitor and certify compliance using the 12 WRAP Principles, which are based on the rule of law within each country and include the spirit or language of relevant International Labor Organization conventions. These principles cover child and forced labor, health and safety, harassment and abuse, discrimination, hours of work, compensation and benefits, and freedom of association as well as environment. The final two principles, on customs compliance and security that WRAP certified facilities demonstrate compliance with US C‐TPAT Guidelines for Foreign Manufacturers.
