Problematic and off-spec fuels cause a variety of performance-related issues. For ship owners and charterers alike, fuel testing is crucial, especially since the introduction of low-sulfur fuels, biofuels and renewable fuels, and global environmental, social, governance, risk management and compliance (ESGRC) initiatives.
SGS BunkerPro enables you to mitigate the potential challenges that can arise from the use of unsuitable fuels. It utilizes our unique laboratory footprint, industry knowledge and digital technology to provide a personalized quality control program designed for your bunker needs.

With SGS BunkerPro, you can:

Rapid and reliable fuel testing
We test marine fuels to ISO 8217 specifications at our nearest global laboratories, ensuring fast turnaround times. Our central hub in Athens, Greece is supported by eight primary laboratories across China, Singapore and Panama. Additionally, our secondary laboratories, located in the United States of America, Turkey, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates, cover key bunkering hotspots across four continents. BunkerPro will soon expand to additional locations to meet the needs of more of our clients.
Our comprehensive testing analyzes critical fuel properties, such as but not limited to viscosity, flash point and sulfur, while also detecting the presence of aluminum, silicon and other metals, sediments, carbon residue and water in the form of large droplets.

Seamless sampling, from start to finish
SGS BunkerPro kits come pre-packaged with sample bottles, labels, and seals, making the sampling process as straightforward as possible. Before you begin, access your sample-taking instruction manual on our marine fuel digital site. Once you have collected the samples, hand them back to your agent. The BunkerPro team will then do the rest, sending them via courier to the closest SGS BunkerPro laboratory. Alternatively, our inspectors can conduct the sampling, should they be onboard.
