SG 136/26
Connecticut expands the approved labeling language and symbols for 12 product categories containing intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
In 2024, Connecticut enacted SB 292 (Public Act No. 24-59) to regulate PFAS in a wide range of consumer goods. Codified as Section 22a-903c of the Connecticut General Statutes, the law establishes notification and labeling requirements and prohibits specified products containing intentionally added PFAS from January 1, 2028.
Beginning July 1, 2026, 12 product categories containing intentionally added PFAS are prohibited unless appropriately labeled (SafeGuardS 1/26 and references therein).
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) updated its website to, inter alia, specify the approved wording and symbols for informing purchasers that a product contains PFAS.
What labeling language and symbols are approved and when do the requirements apply?
Highlights of the approved labeling requirements are summarized in Table 1.

Who is impacted?
The requirements affect producers and manufacturers, importers, retailers and other intermediaries in the supply chain for the specified consumer products sold or distributed in Connecticut.
