Unifonic Achieves ISO/IEC 42001 Certification for AI Management

We are proud to award Unifonic with our first ISO/IEC 42001 certification in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating its commitment to safe and secure artificial intelligence (AI).

Unifonic, a leading customer engagement platform and software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider, has achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI management systems (AIMS) – and one of the first in the MENA region to reach this significant milestone.

The certification scope covers the development of AI systems for customer care applications, marketing automation and personalization, as defined in the Statement of Applicability.

Driving responsible AI across the region

Unifonic pursued ISO/IEC 42001 certification to formalize governance for AI systems, reduce operational and compliance risks, and demonstrate to customers and regulators that its AI technologies are managed in line with internationally auditable standards.

The implementation followed a structured roadmap – from gap analysis and policy development to system rollout and independent assessment. Challenges, such as cataloging AI assets, aligning cross-functional teams and embedding governance into existing processes, were addressed through executive sponsorship and collaborative working groups.

Why ISO/IEC 42001 matters

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the world’s first international standard for AIMS, providing a structured framework for the governance, risk management and accountability of AI technologies. It enables organizations to ensure their AI systems are transparent, safe and compliant while supporting innovation and trust.

We have been a pioneer in ISO/IEC 42001 certification, having issued the first-ever certificate against FDIS ISO/IEC 42001 in October 2023. Since then, we have helped organizations worldwide strengthen responsible AI development through AIMS certification.
