On August 8, 2025, we were pleased to issue the world’s first CB certificate for a DC electric vehicle charging station compliant with the newly revised IEC 61851-23:2023 standard. This marks a significant milestone for the global new energy sector.
The updated IEC standard strengthens requirements for DC charging stations in areas such as:
- Environmental durability: reliability under extreme temperature and humidity
- Electrical protection and safety: enhanced checks on insulation, overload and short-circuit protection and grounding
- Interoperability: cross-vendor protocol compatibility and stronger cybersecurity for communications
- Energy efficiency and thermal management: improved cooling performance and high-power operating efficiency
- Current and voltage stability: comprehensive verification of ripple, accuracy and response latency across output profiles
Meeting these requirements demands extensive laboratory testing, including thousands of dynamic operating data sets, rigorous limit trials and interoperability checks.
Digital solution built on TeREES® L2
To meet the stringent requirements of IEC 61851-23:2023, we leveraged TeREES® L2 laboratory digitalization architecture. Using the Lab-UP® automated testing module, we developed a ‘DC Charger Operation & Data Acquisition Automation Plugin’ that automates the entire testing chain – from sequencing and data capture to report generation.

- One-click execution of thousands of tests: covers all voltage, current and communication scenarios with high-precision, high-frequency multi-parameter (temperature, voltage, current, communication frames) data acquisition
- Intelligent report generation: fully automated CB-compliant reports with charts, results analysis and clause-by-clause compliance mapping. Report turnaround times reduced from 60 days to 72 hours, improving overall test efficiency by more than 50%
