China Updates Toy Safety Standards – GB 6675 Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4

China publishes updated standards for the GB 6675 toy safety series.

On October 5, 2025, the National Standardization Administration of China announced the publication of the following updates standards:

  • GB 6675.1-2025 Safety of toys – Part 1: Basic code
  • GB 6675.2-2025 Safety of toys – Part 2: Mechanical and physical properties
  • GB 6675.3-2025 Safety of toys – Part 3: Flammability
  • GB 6675.4-2025 Safety of toys – Part 4: Migration of certain elements

These standards will replace the previous versions, published in 2014.

The implementation date for these updated standards is November 1, 2026. They are mandatory requirements within the scope of the China Compulsory Certificate (CCC). The requirements within these standards are largely based on international standards – the ISO 8124 series.

The following table illustrates the major differences between these updated standards and their previous versions:

  • Added realistic food imitation requirements
  • Revised requirements for migration of certain elements and phthalates
  • Added requirements for formaldehyde, azo dyes, PAH, N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances, formamide, and SCCP
  • Added requirement for electrical toys that have a working voltage over 24V
  • Detailing hygiene requirements and added odor-related requirements
  • Added electromagnetic requirements
  • Revised labeling requirements
GB 6675.2-2025
  • Added/revised definitions
  • Added scenario of acceptable ways of ventilation holes’ constructions
  • Revised speed limitation for electrical driven ride-on toys
  • Added new requirements for flying toys, yo-yo balls, straps intended to be worn fully or partially around the neck, assembly, etc.
  • Revised requirements for cords, acoustic, etc.
  • Added realistic food imitation requirements and assessment to determine a toy food is realistic
  • Revised the head probe for cord / loop testing
  • Revised/added warnings
GB 6675.3-2025
  • Added wind speed requirement for test environment
  • Detailing gas supply purity specifications
  • Outlining test method for toy disguise costumes
  • Clarified the classification of toys worn on the head
GB 6675.4-2025
  • Revised definitions for paper and paperboard
  • Added requirements for finger paint, toy cosmetic, slime and similar materials
  • Added boron limits for modelling clay and putty
  • Added options for dewaxing
