SG 150/25
CEN has published a revised standard for toy trampolines for domestic use – EN 71-14:2025.
EN 71-14:2025 sets out updated requirements for toy trampolines intended for domestic use. The 2025 version incorporates changes related to the so-called Standardization Request – an agreement between the European Commission and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN)/European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) that defines the standardization work program.
There are no major technical changes compared to the previous version, EN 71-14:2018.
Please find below an overview of the changes:
Topic | Change |
---|---|
Exemptions requirements in EN 71-1 | The exemptions from some requirements in EN 71-1 have been deleted as these exemptions have now been transferred to the revised prEN 71-1:2025. This is a structural change only, with no technical consequences. |
Pinching and crushing requirements | The requirements related to pinching and crushing hazards have been slightly revised |
Warnings | The requirements for warnings, markings and instructions have been updated. |
Rationale | There is now clearer guidance on pinching and crushing risks for bystanders, focusing on minimizing access to springs (A2 and A6). |
The standard is not currently harmonized, i.e. it has not yet been published in the Official Journal of the EU) as a standard that can be used to demonstrate compliance with the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. It is not yet known when EN 71-14:2025 will be harmonized or when the transitional period will end.
Please note SGS keeps you up to date with changes of EN 71-serie standards due to the Standardization Request: see here
