We are pleased to announce the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación (IRAM) in Argentina. These agreements are designed to streamline regulatory compliance and support smoother market entry for toy and personal protective equipment (PPE) products.
An MoU establishes mutual recognition of certificates, test results and surveillance activities conducted by the respective parties and their associated laboratories. By harmonizing quality assurance and compliance processes, they strengthen cross-border cooperation and promote coordinated oversight.
The first MoU was signed on June 2, 2025, covering PPE under modules A, B, C, C2, and D of the EU PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425, with assessments based on standards from IRAM, ISO, EN and ASTM. The second MoU, signed on July 7, 2025, covers toys tested against IRAM NM 300, ISO 8124, ASTM F963 and EN 71. Together, these agreements mean that our reports are now accepted directly by IRAM for mandatory certification, enabling manufacturers and importers to demonstrate compliance with Argentinian safety requirements without unnecessary duplication of testing.
Joe Chen, Global Head, Hardlines and Automotive, Connectivity & Products for SGS: "These agreements create new opportunities for businesses operating in Argentina. With our reports now accepted by IRAM, the certification process is streamlined and customs authorities can rely on SGS documentation to verify compliance."
Partnering with organizations like IRAM reflects our commitment to helping clients worldwide deliver safe, compliant products with greater efficiency and confidence. Through such collaborations, we help businesses navigate Argentina's regulatory pathways more effectively, ensuring compliance with national safety standards while enabling smoother customs clearance and faster time to market.
