China releases a new industry standard for the general technical specifications of disposable bedding, FZ/T 62048-2024, which will become effective on July 1, 2025.
In March 2025, as part of its No. 3 announcement of approved industry standards, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued FZ/T 62048-2024 – General technical specifications for disposable bedding. This new industry standard will become effective on July 1, 2025.
Scope
The standard applies to disposable bedding made from nonwoven materials. The scope does not include quilts, single-use medical bedding and disposable bedding intended for infants of 36 months or younger.
Definition
Disposable bedding refers to nonwoven bedding products designed for single use and disposal. This includes sheets, quilt covers, pillow slips, bed covers, pillow covers, cushion covers and more.
Requirements
- Quality of products includes general requirements, labeling, internal quality, appearance quality and workmanship quality
- General requirements shall comply with the requirements of GB 18401, and the safety technical code for children's disposable bedding shall comply with the requirements of GB 31701
- Product labeling shall comply with the provisions of clause 4.3 of this document
- Internal quality requirements shall comply with table 1 in the standard. Including fiber content, pilling, breaking force, seam strength, bursting strength, fluorescent whitening agent, ethylene oxide, mass deviation per unit area, the coefficient of variation for mass per unit area, air permeability, color fastness to wet rubbing, presence of metal objects such as sewing needles or broken needles and microorganisms
- Appearance quality shall comply with table 2 of the standard. Including the appearance requirements, appearance defects, specification size deviation rate and color difference for matched bedding
- Workmanship quality shall comply with table 3 of the standard. Items include pattern quality, sewing quality, stitch quality and quilting quality and thermal bonding seam quality
Verification method
According to the method specified in clause 5 of this standard, verify the quality of the product.
