We are pleased to announce the launch of a new service to support manufacturers of substances used in food contact materials, helping to streamline regulatory authorization for North American markets.
Food contact substances typically require rigorous authorization to ensure the safety of food contact materials. In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) offers the Food Contact Notification (FCN) route, a widely used pathway for premarket approval of new food contact substances. This route is favored for its twin benefits of granting proprietary approval and providing a relatively fast process once the notification is submitted.
For Canadian markets, although authorization is not mandatory for most food contact substances – except for those used in infant formula packaging and certain novel processes – it is common industry practice to obtain a voluntary letter of no objection (LONO) from Health Canada.
Authorization can take between six months and two years, requiring expertise and resources that are often beyond the reach of many manufacturers. To simplify this process, we have introduced a comprehensive regulatory submission service for both FCN and LONO applications.
Developed and delivered in partnership with a trusted industry leader, our solution integrates expert preparation of regulatory submission dossiers with advanced migration testing. The service provides end-to-end support, with each step carefully managed to optimize the pathway to approval. Additionally, we may expand the service to include other markets, offering even greater efficiency for manufacturers.
Our comprehensive solution integrates dossier creation with expertise in migration testing, making the regulatory authorization process more accessible to manufacturers worldwide.
